Edmontonians need to be involved in this discussion to determine what they consider to be the key environmental preservation/sustainability issues facing our city. Public involvement will help determine:

  • Whether Edmonton is environmentally sustainable.
  • If not, the issues Edmonton will need to address to be sustainable
  • What preservation efforts are needed.
  • The ranking and prioritization of preservation/sustainability issues based on community priorities.
  • Whether Edmontonians are prepared to change their life patterns to achieve sustainability

Plan (January – April 2010)

  • Interview key stakeholders and leadership

Implement (Spring – Summer 2011)

  • Identify changes in City activities required by new long-term plan
  • Establish implementation timeline of critical projects in component topic areas
  • Revise and implement any necessary City policies and directives
  • Review other major strategies again (The Way Ahead plans) for re-alignment, if necessary
  • Establish partnership teams
  • Roll-out new Strategic Plan principles and approaches
  • Awareness campaign of societal activities, opportunities,
  • Apply new decision tools to emerging issues, new projects and opportunities
